Taste For Yourself!
Despite what some meat-eaters might think, living the vegetarian lifestyle can actually be a lot of fun!
I equate it with being an explorer – pushing new boundaries and breaking new ground, by travelling to new places with an open mind and an appetite for learning.
Through my recent journeys in and around the City of Barrie, I have found some great culinary options for vegetarians of all types. I would like to share a few restaurant picks with you in hope that you will get out and taste for yourself. I encourage you to report back and share your experiences through the Barrie Review’s Blog Page.
Sammy’s Middle Eastern Grill & In N’ Out Pita
53 Collier Street,
Barrie, ON
Phone: (705) 737-0200
This restaurant has something for everyone, from carnivores to vegans! Their food is extremely fresh, made on-site daily. You can’t beat the value of their delicious and large-sized falafels at only $5. Sammy the owner is always around and takes pride in the quality of his menu. Take note, they are closed Sundays.

Moose Winooski’s
407 Bayfield Street,
Barrie, Ontario Canada
Phone: (705) 727-0077
While this Canadian chain is known for their ribs and chicken, try their vegetarian options like yummy salads and sizzling veggie fajitas. In the winter time, I like to pick my cozy spot by the open fire pit. It’s a nice place to warm up and eat after a day of skiing, tubing or skating. Be warned, this place may not be suitable for those with allergies to peanuts, since the bar-side patrons are encouraged to leave their peanut mess on the floor.

Tara Indian Cuisine
128 Dunlop Street East,
Barrie, Ontario Canada
Phone: (705) 737-1821
This award-winning restaurant has a wide selection of vegetarian options. If the breeze is right when you are standing at the corner of Dunlop and Mulcaster, you’ll have a hard time resisting the tempting aromas of special daily dishes kissed by Indian spices.
